What is a template?

A template is a design created in the template editor. It's the base for automating videos or images. A template can have placeholder elements that get replaced during automation.

A placeholder can be a text value, image, video, or any other template element. For example, the following template has a placeholder called {{name}}.

Consequently, the template can be used inside an automation workflow that replaces the placeholder with an actual name.

Just like overwriting the content of a template, it is also possible to edit the template styles, such as colors, fonts, animations, and even change the entire layout of the template during automation. This can be useful in case you have a single template, which you want to use with multiple customer using different branding.

For many use cases, using a template is the easiest way to generate videos and images. However, some use cases may require advanced automation that go further than simply replacing a value in the template.
