The first step in automating Instagram Stories is to create a template. This template serves as the design for your visuals. Within your template, you can set up placeholder elements such as text and media, which will automatically be replaced with other content.
Instagram Stories, whether photo or video posts, require a vertical format with a 9:16 aspect ratio. While there are many ready-made templates available, you may prefer to design your own. You can do this in the online template editor, which offers the flexibility to create designs that perfectly align with Instagram's style and meet your specific needs.

Every Zap starts with a trigger, followed by one or more actions. For example, think of new records in Airtable, files in Google Drive, or products in Shopify. You can then use data from these apps to populate the placeholder elements in your template.
To create Instagram Stories, add the Creatomate app with the Create Single Render event to your Zap. Then, choose your template from step 1 and map the data you want to use in your stories.
After creating your stories, the next step is to share them on Instagram. While there's an Instagram for Business integration available in Zapier, it doesn't support posting stories. Fortunately, there are alternative methods.
For instance, you can upload your stories to Google Drive and manually post them on Instagram whenever you want. Check out this tutorial on uploading Creatomate videos to a Google Drive folder. Alternatively, you can use a social media management app like SocialBee to schedule and post Instagram Stories. Here's a step-by-step tutorial on setting up such a workflow.
